JONESBORO POLICE DEPARTMENT ENHANCES ITS WEB SITE WITH CRIME MAPPING, WARRANT SEARCH FEATURES

Access to crime-related information helps our community stay safer. For this reason, the Jonesboro Police Department is announcing the addition of crime mapping, sex offender searches, and arrest warrant databases to its website, www.jonesboropolice.com.

With these new features, anyone with internet access can log on and view crime maps which include property crimes such as burglaries, break-ins, thefts, forgeries, and other offenses, crimes against persons such as robberies and other violent acts, and alcohol and other miscellaneous offenses. Maps are updated every 24 hours. A sex offender database is also accessible which includes a photograph and current address of level three and four sex offenders.

In an effort to speed the process of warrant service, misdemeanor arrest warrant information has been added to the site and includes maps of recently issued warrants as well as a searchable PDF file containing all active misdemeanor warrants.

Mapping features on the site include road maps, satellite maps, Google Streetview, and hybrid maps. Users of the website can choose the type of map and information to display and then click on individual pushpin icons to reveal details of each crime or sex offender mapped.

Residents are urged to visit the website and become familiar with crime trends in their neighborhoods. Anyone with information concerning crimes posted on the website should call the Jonesboro Police Department at 870-935-5562 or Crime Stoppers at 870-935-STOP.
