K-9 Unit

The Jonesboro Police Department currently utilizes three K-9 teams, which are assigned to the Patrol Division and Prowl Unit.  Each K-9 team consists of a veteran patrol officer and their canine partner.

The K-9 teams were created to assist police personnel with tracking suspects, searching for articles or evidence of a crime, conducting building searches, assisting in the arrest or apprehension of felons, searching for lost persons, and detecting the presence of narcotics.  The K-9 teams are nationally certified in a variety of crime fighting disciplines, as well as obedience and handler protection.  The K-9 teams' service to the community and their fellow officers has proven to be invaluable.

For more information or should you have questions regarding the K-9 Units, please contact officer Anthony Zaffarano at (870) 935-5562.
